Greater Stamford Young Democrats Executive Board Demand State Representative Figueroa’s Resignation

We join our fellow Democrats and public leaders in denouncing the unacceptable antisemitic language used by District 8 DCC member, Board of Representatives member, and State Representative candidate Anabel Figueroa in reference to opponent, and colleague on the Board of Representatives, Jonathan Jacobson.

We are very disheartened to see such harmful rhetoric used by a public figure who is a sitting state representative, city representative, and member of the Democratic City Committee. This behavior is unbecoming of her offices, and sets a terrible example for her district and the entire City of Stamford, especially to make such comments in the days after the latest antisemitic AITE vandalism.

Stamford is the proud and welcoming home of so many diverse cultures and identities, and we deserve leaders who will celebrate those identities and use their platforms to unify, not divide. This type of vulgar rhetoric does not represent Stamford or its values.

We strongly condemn Representative Figueroa’s comments and call for her to resign immediately from the DCC and step down from public office. We encourage her to take the time to reflect upon her actions that have caused so much harm to the Stamford community.
